Dear Mom

Dear Mom,

The doctors gave you a choice, and that’s where it all started.
We both don’t like to get too mushy, so I’ll try to keep this light-hearted.

You chose me, and I couldn’t be more grateful.
To have you, I am so thankful.

You are a teacher, when you go to work and at home.
You’ve taught me to be no other person but my own.

Through you I learned that makeup is worth the time.
I’m so glad the most fabulous Mom is mine.

Yes, we share an interest in fashion.
You also gave me another passion.

Because you’re so well-spoken, I wanted to be a writer.
You’ve shown me that to achieve my goals in life, I have to be a fighter.

I’ll always put up with your goofy antics. Know that you are the best Mom on the planet.

Thank you, Mom, for all that you do.
And for showing me that in life, all you really need is you.

As your daughter, people always say that I’m your twin.
With you as my mom, I definitely say I win!

Happy belated Mother’s Day to all mothers!

My Life Thus Far

When I look back on my life thus far
I do not dwell on what could’ve been,
rather I anticipate all that is upon a lone shooting star,
never letting the limitations of my dreams run thin.

Worries of the unknown come and go,
with it runs our time here,
but until then I’ll never know.
And so, with this poem, I will share all my fears.

If my soul fails to seep on to the page,
then let my mark be imprinted in another path.
My hope for when I rest in my tranquil grave,
be that in the shadows wander the ghost of a fighter, that is all I ask.

Of this frail world I hope to mend,
so these scripts I take with me until my days do end.
